Koibald
Koi Patterned Piebald
"Ko ko kow kob kop koc"
Recently discovered in a remote population of Nudari bred in Japan, the Koibald is the newest accepted variety of Canis Nudari. Koibald mimics the appearance of koi fish, in that it twists the coat pigment to appear in spots and splashes. Some types of koi add white, black, or both.
Unlike the standard two types, Koibalds are not divided by coat type, all show together with the exception of specialties. In koi specific specialties, they may be divided by color.

Bicolor Koibald
"koko / kokow / kokob / kokop / kokoc"
The Bicolor Koibald takes the two main colors on the Nudari - the main shade and underbelly shade - and turns them into patches instead of the normal presentation. One color may predominate over the other with no preference or display in equal amounts, but both colors should be noticeable.
As with all forms of koibald, bicolor will cause large splotches, spots, and dots, all with rounded edges.
All markings except Tiger Urajiro show as normal. Tiger Urajiro is masked by all forms of Koibald.

All markings except Tiger Urajiro show as normal. Tiger Urajiro is masked by all forms of Koibald.
Bicolor Dusk Dunes are NOT the same as Black Koibalds. A Bicolor that is a Dusk will have patches of black that is one shade.
White Koibald
"kowkow / kowkob / kowkop / kowkoc"
The White Koibald loosely mimics Piebald in that it creates a mostly white base which is then covered by splotches, dots, and patches of the main body color and underbelly color. The difference between a White Koibald and a Piebald is that Piebald has very specific rules in how the white expresses (the white extends from the extremities inward) whereas the splotches on a White Koibald may be anywhere. White Koibalds may mimic traditional piebald but this is uncommon.
White should not over dominate (90%+) and stripes still need to be present on the ears and tail to be show quality.
White Koibald masks ALL black markings except stripes (or Dusk Dune/Yellow Dusk). Black Spotting, Black Socks, Black Irish, Black Collared Irish, Black Points, Dorsal Strip, Saddleback, Jackalback, Dorsal Dun, and Tiger Urajiro do not express.

White Koibald can go overtop of or under your stripe layer.

Black Koibald
"kobkob / kobkop / kobkoc"
The Black Koibald creates a mostly black base which is then covered by splotches, dots, and patches of the main body color and underbelly color. It is said that this type mutated out of the black collared irish gene.
Black should not over dominate (90%+) and stripes still need to be present on the ears and tail to be show quality.
Black Koibald masks ALL white markings. Residual White, White Spotting, White Irish, White Collared Irish, White Piebald, White Frosting, and Tiger Urajiro do not express.

Black Koibald masks ALL white markings. Residual White, White Spotting, White Irish, White Collared Irish, White Piebald, White Frosting, and Tiger Urajiro do not express.
Black Koibald can go overtop of or under your stripe layer or use the same color black. Stripes may also be lighter.

Black is not the base color. You can tell this apart from a Dusk Bicolor due to the additional 3rd shade.

Painted Koibald
"kopkop / kopkoc"
Possibly the most unique and striking of the Koibald genes, Painted Koibald combines the main base color, underbelly color, black, and white in any combination. Any of those four shades may dominate, but all four must be present. In certain circles, Painted Koibald without black or white markings are the most sought after as it lets the beauty of the marking truly shine.
As with all forms of koibald, painted will cause large splotches, spots, streaks, and dots, all with mostly rounded edges.
All markings except Tiger Urajiro show as normal. Tiger Urajiro is masked by all forms of Koibald.

Chimeric Koibald
"kockoc"
The most rare out of the Koibald types, the Chimeric Koibald causes a dog to display both a Yellow gene and a Dune gene. Either shade may display more than the other, or both colors may display equally. Chimeric Koibald expresses the base color for each of the shades and does not feature an underbelly color. Not counting white markings, black markings, and stripes, it is considered to be a two color Koibald similar to Bicolor.
As with all forms of koibald, chimeric will cause large splotches, spots, streaks, and dots, all with mostly rounded edges.
All markings except Tiger Urajiro show as normal. Tiger Urajiro is masked by all forms of Koibald.
Hazel Yellow and Seal Dune will display their dominant genes (so a Golden and Cream expressed Hazel would only show Golden in Chimeric Koibald). Dusk Dune and Yellow Dusk do not express black and would display their Dune or Yellow shade normally.
As with all forms of koibald, chimeric will cause large splotches, spots, streaks, and dots, all with mostly rounded edges.

Despite the Koibald pattern still being somewhat detectable in the inverted stripes, the lack of distinct spots, splotches, etc makes these resemble normal Nudari too much to be considered a desirable, show quality Koibald specimen. As pictured above, the dilute versions of these are show quality due to being able to see the koibald through the dilute.
