Dark Dune
"dnadna / dnadnt / dnadnd / dnadnl / dnadns"
Dark Dune is arguably the darkest shade of Dune that a Nudari can have (some Chestnut Dunes also vie for that title). While in standard and in no way faulted, Dark Dune walks the line between being acceptable to some and unacceptable to others. The darkest shade possible is discouraged for the same reasons NNHA / maximum black Nudari are disqualified. Darker Nudari tend to overheat more easily in the desert sun and are not considered to be ideal. It is allowed to remain in the standard due to the wide range of color seen in Dark dogs, and a darkest Dark can still produce lighter Dark offspring.
Dark Dune should never be black or ashy-brown and must always come with black pigment (never liver). Darks may be reddish in hue if they are darker than the darkest possible Terracotta.

Disclaimer: These are correct, show quality examples but are not the only options and Nudari may be brighter, darker, or more / less saturated than this to an extent.
Dark Dune to Black Comparison
Extremely Dark Dune is a controversial subject, with some in the Canis Nudari community equating it to black Nudari typically seen within the NNHA (Nudari Night Hunting Association) community and breeding stock. That said, there is significant difference between the NNHA Black and the Al Karour Dark as seen by the brown sheen and rich underbelly color. A true Dark Nudari will never dilute to gray under Double Dilution.
Double Dilute + Dark Dune Examples
The double dilute gene overlays a sheen of white over the coat and skin, diluting everything except the eyes; their eyes can be just as dark as a non-diluted dog!
Two copies of the double dilute gene nullifies the Lutino modifier and results in a red, pink, or lavender eyed albino with pink skin. While Lethal Whites can survive birth, they are often reabsorbed in the womb or stillborn. Lethal White puppies can be born deaf, blind, or be born with severe deformities such as small eyes or lacking eyes altogether, hairlessness, cleft palate, skin allergies, a predisposition to skin cancer, cataracts, and multiple congenial organ defects that result in a failure to thrive.
